About "Restaurants To Customer" - San Pedro's Small Business Platform

It didn’t start with a business plan. It started in 2018 as a volunteer project in Redondo Beach, California. We noticed something heartbreaking: families struggling to afford food while local restaurants threw away perfectly good food every single day. The contrast was impossible to ignore. So much abundance in one place, so much need just down the street.

Our initial mission was simple: rescue surplus food and get it to families who needed it. But as we researched, we discovered the problem was massive. The United States wastes enough food to feed millions annually. Worse yet, every pound of discarded food emits 0.6 pounds of harmful gases into the atmosphere.

Then COVID-19 hit, and small restaurants began closing overnight. That’s when we realized: What if we could help businesses reduce waste while bringing in new customers? So we built a platform that does both. We moved to San Pedro, set up shop at 2020 S Western Ave, and Restaurants To Customer was born.
